At Seventh Bixel, we weren’t just counting down with the world to welcome in 2016; we have also been counting down for the anticipated feature of our Peruvian inspired wedding reception on Wedding Chicks. Today, we are beyond thrilled that the countdown is finally over and we are LIVE!
Through much anticipation and excitement, we are finally able to take you on our four-chapter journey into the love story that made this stylized shoot come to life. Stay with us over the next week as we unravel the richness of this vendor collaboration!
Niki Stoller, founder of Seventh Bixel and the creative designer and stylist behind this shoot, was trend shopping when she came across a beautifully designed yarn chandelier by Lauren Moyer of West Elm’s South Coast Plaza location.
Unlike what we all know chandeliers to be, this one broke the paradigm. Riddled with texture, layers of yarn, strung wood beads, copper wire and carefully crafted spheres, this was a cascading piece of art strung from wooden embroidery rounds and hula-hoops. It was a six-foot, nearly 150 pound masterpiece that unleashed a waterfall of inspiration. This chandelier sparked the idea of curating an intimate Peruvian inspired reception that would pay homage to the rich textiles of the Peruvian culture.
It was important to us that we paid homage to the traditions of this culture, carefully salvaging and executing its essence while infusing modern day trends to remain relevant and versatile. Months of researching the Peruvian wedding cultures of the Andean region took place, which quickly became the bloodline to the creative brief behind this Peruvian reception.
As research continued, we started to learn more about this fascinating culture, and the heartbeat of the story, the reason why we were creating this reception started to thread the inspiration together.
This is about a love story between Silvia and her fiancé Felipe. Both Peruvian born whose journey together began in California. Each of them saturated in century old traditions yet who grew up in a modern world. They were unique like the chandelier, peppered with culture, vibrant and rich in love that needed a reception no less than perfect.
Perfection for them begins with photography. Perfection for us began with Allison Maginn of Allison Maginn Photography. She was our first collaborator because we knew her ability to achieve depth in her photos was a sure bet.
